Mark Bishop – Technical Award

What is your background?

'I was a sales manager but since gaining the Technical Award, I am now a self employed lettings/sales agent and energy assessor.'

How did you manage your time whilst working and juggling all your other commitments?

'I made sure my work didn’t come home with me. I had a notepad at work and jotted down things to read up on in the evening and had to be very self disciplined.'

What made you decide to take the tutor support?

‘I knew I would need nagging! Seriously, I knew that I required the reassurance that I was making good progress. Having regular support from a tutor who had been involved within the industry and was able to explain things in detail made a real difference.'

What was the most challenging part of the course work?

'It had to be the legal aspect. That was really difficult due to my lack of experience within the profession. What really worked for me were the mind maps from MOL. I found it easier to remember things using a more visual form.'

What appealed most to you about MOL’s supported flexible learning course?

'The flexibility to study when and where I wanted because I just didn’t have the time or desire to go to a workshop or study at a college.'
