NFOPP Level 3 Award: Technical Award in Sale of Residential Property
MOL’s Technical Award in Sale of Residential Property flexible learning programme has been designed to prepare you effectively and thoroughly to take – and pass – the Technical Award examination, set by the National Federation of Property Professionals (NFOPP). As well as passing the examination, we hope that both the flexible learning material you work through and the support you receive from a tutor will provide you with an understanding of, and competence in, your business that will be of lasting benefit to you.
All of the tutor support and examination preparation you receive on the programme is provided by MOL. The materials are written and produced by a partnership of MOL, the NFOPP and Asset Skills.
This course is ideal for those
- new to the profession
- with limited experience
- requiring a nationally recognised qualification in a minimal amount of time
Structure
The Technical Award in Sale of Residential Property is awarded by the NFOPP to candidates who successfully complete their examination in each of the following four units
- Unit 1: Health and Safety, Security and General Law
- Unit 2: Law Relating to Residential Property Sales
- Unit 3: Practice Relating to Residential Property Sales
- Unit 4: Property Appraisal and Basic Building Construction/Defects
The award is designed as an introduction to the knowledge and understanding required by those working, or aspiring to work, in residential estate agency or new home sales. It covers the law and practice of estate agency and new home sales in England and Wales and is based on a syllabus derived from the National Occupational Standards (NOS) for Sale of Residential Property.
As a guide it is expected that 60-150 hours of study will be needed depending on your existing level of expertise.
Materials
The materials are divided into four units corresponding to the four units of the Technical Award. Each unit is designed to be easy to use and comes complete with its own glossary of terms and suggestions for further reading. The units do not stand alone; there are frequent links between them, which are cross-referenced wherever possible.
You will be able to study at your own pace (within the time constraints of the course), working through the units in the order that they are presented, to get the most out of the course materials.
The materials encourage you to take an active role. With frequent self check questions and review exercises, there is plenty of opportunity for constructive feedback. It has been proven that the completion of these exercises dramatically helps you to remember and process the course material.
Support
Tutor support is a key feature of this programme and, if you take full advantage of it, will considerably improve your chances of successfully completing the NFOPP examinations. Tutor support is both proactive and reactive.
After enrolling on the MOL programme, you will be contacted by a tutor. All tutors are professionally qualified practitioners with teaching expertise. All have experience with distance learning students and can help you fit study into a busy working and home life.
MOL offers you ongoing support. At any time during the programme you can contact a tutor either by telephone, email or fax, and you are actively encouraged to do so.
Whether you choose to contact a tutor a lot or a little, they will contact you periodically throughout the course. This offers you the perfect opportunity to assess and discuss your progress and highlight any problems you may encounter. When you reach the end of your programme with MOL, a tutor will be able to advise on your readiness for the NFOPP examination.
Exam Preparation
The key to this programme is the thorough way in which a tutor will prepare you to take – and pass – the multiple choice NFOPP examination. Rather than just working on your own, you will have tutor support, including mock assessment, sent to you by a tutor, which will prepare you for the final examination. You will get feedback on these so that you and the tutor will know when you’re ready for your exam.
