Why choose the ILM Level 2 Certificate in Team Leading course?
The ILM offers two level 2 courses in team leading
- the Award in Team Leading, which covers the basics of the subject matter and is an ideal bridge for those who have been away from a learning environment for some time
- the Certificate in Team Leading, which is a longer and more in-depth programme suitable for those who would like to further develop their knowledge and skills

- Planning and Monitoring Work
- Motivating the Work-team to Perform
plus a variety of optional units that build on this basic foundations.
Is the ILM Level 2 Certificate in Team Leading course for me?
The ILM Certificate in Team Leading is designed for people who are supervisors/team leaders and have workplace experience that they can contribute to the group. They must also be in a position that enables them to apply their learning to their job role.
What are my career prospects/next steps after the course?
Successful completion provides eligibility for Associate membership of the ILM.
The units that you achieve in the ILM Award and Certificate in Team Leading can be carried forward to the ILM’s Diploma programme.
How is the ILM Level 2 Certificate in Team Leading course delivered?
The course is a ‘fully taught’ programme that requires a minimum of 65 hours of attendance at facilitated and tutored workshops in Manchester, which are run on one afternoon and evening per week for 10-12 weeks.
Where do the workshops take place?
The course is delivered at venues throughout Manchester. We can also provide courses in-house at an organisation’s own premises. Please see our information about bespoke training for business.
How long does the ILM Level 2 Certificate in Team Leading course last?
Approximately 10-12 weeks.
How will I be assessed?
You will be expected to complete
- a mini-project, covering the three mandatory units
- a range of assessments comprising reflective reviews, knowledge reviews, oral presentations and role plays/scenarios covering the optional units
Guidance and coaching will given on the assessments.
