Electrical Engineering FAQs
What is the duration of MOL Engineering programmes?
This is dependent on commitment to home study, but following the recommendations below, full certificate programmes will take two years to complete.
How many days will I be required to attend college?
Workshops are an integral part of the course. They provide the facility to complete the practical assignments and end of unit examinations, which are compulsory elements of the programme. There will normally be a three day induction followed by a further eight workshop days.
For individual students these workshops will be arranged by the college and you will be advised of the dates in advance.
For corporate groups, workshop dates and locations will be agreed with the employer prior to the commencement of the programme.
How many hours a week should I study at home?
To complete courses in the guidance time frames, a minimum of 10 to 15 hours study time per week would be expected.
What are the assessment methods?
Practical assignments are carried out as part of the study process and written (homework) assignments are completed for each section of study. In several cases there are also end of unit examinations, and in some cases a project report or an evidence portfolio may be required. In combination, the assessed work will cover all criteria for each unit. Every criterion must be fulfilled to a defined minimum standard in order to be awarded a pass grade for a unit. Standards are also defined for merit and distinction levels of achievement. In order to be awarded a full Certificate all units must receive a minimum or a pass grade.
What methods of payment does MOL accept?
Payment may be made to the college by cheque, credit/debit card, via invoices to an employer, or by cash in person at the college. It is possible to pay for the whole course in a single lump sum, by annual instalments, or by paying for each unit as it is commenced.
