Support

Open learning can be very demanding so we have taken great care to set up a comprehensive network of support for all participants. Where possible we try to keep participants together in groups who are at the same stage of their studies. We encourage all participants within a group to keep in contact for mutual encouragement and informal support meetings.

TelephoneAll participants are encouraged to use our telephone helpline 0161 953 6000 between tutorials. We take a proactive approach and will contact you between tutorials. This gives you an opportunity to discuss any problems or difficulties with a member of the tutoring team. We normally have a member of the tutorial team in the office during normal office hours. Out of hours there is an answer phone and fax line. We will be pleased to telephone you back in the evenings if required.

Email help

Contact may be made at any time during the week using the MOL email. In addition, many of our tutors may be contacted by email at home in the evening and over the weekend.

Tutorials

Tutorials are required to be an integral part of the programme. Their primary component is practical work that is an essential part of your studies. They are usually one to two days in duration, or the equivalent number of evenings per unit. The members of staff leading tutorials have extensive practical experience. We provide all equipment and well planned experiments to support your studies.
