Our learning materials
Each of the Construction Product Knowledge Training modules begins with a brief introduction to tell you what subject matter is going to be covered.
The text contains the information which you will need to know and is broken down into small, easy to understand sections and sub-sections.
There are illustrations and diagrams which break up the text and help to clarify specific points or reinforce what you have read.
The Section Summaries set out the main points you should have learnt from that particular section.
The Your Turn Questions give you the opportunity to test yourself and also enable you to demonstrate your ability to carry out research within your workplace or by the use of manufacturers' information.
The Consolidation section at the end of each module includes a number of short answer questions.
The Project at the end of the module enables you to demonstrate the extent of your learning from the module and your research skills.
What is Expected of You?
At its simplest, the answer is to do your best. This means that your finished work should demonstrate
- a considerable degree of effort
- some research
- application of knowledge in the workplace situation
- careful presentation
You should take every opportunity to increase your product knowledge within each area you are studying by asking questions and making a note of any important information.
There may be times when it becomes difficult to obtain information quickly, but this is also part of the learning process as you will become aware of the need to adapt and seek out alternative sources of information.
