Understanding CIOB Membership
Becoming a Member of the CIOB (MCIOB) or Fellow of the CIOB (FCIOB) is recognised internationally as achievement of a high standard of professionalism and attainment of a professional qualification.
There are also benefits for you as a member of the CIOB. They include
- subscription to a variety of CIOB publications
- access to national and regional events and networking opportunities
- career development advice
- access to the CIOB’s Library and Information Service
There are various routes to CIOB membership, depending on your academic qualifications and professional experience.
The CSSS is a step towards becoming a full member of the CIOB. At your induction you enrolled as a Student Member of the CIOB. As a Student Member, you are entitled to
- access to the CIOB’s Library and Information Service
- advice on technical and legislative issues
- information and updates through the Members’ area of the CIOB website
- access to branch activities and networking opportunities
On completion of the CSSS, you may progress to the Certificate and Diploma in Site Management. If you achieve the Diploma, you will be able to elevate your membership to Associate Member of the CIOB (ACIOB).
Full professional status (MCIOB) is achieved on completion of three years’ professional experience, an honours degree and professional level examination, together with a CIOB Assessment of Professional Competence.
Following five years’ experience at MCIOB level, you are then entitled to become a Fellow of the CIOB (FCIOB).
