Is this course for me?

The CIOB CSSS is aimed at both practising and potential supervisors in the construction industry. No formal qualifications are required, though you do need a minimum of two to three years’ experience in the construction industry.

What level of CIOB membership will I have?

While studying you will be a Student Member of the CIOB (included in your course fee and organised for you by MOL).

What are my career prospects/next steps after the course?

On completion of the CSSS, you may progress to the Certificate and Diploma in Site Management. If you achieve the Diploma, you will be able to elevate your CIOB membership to Associate Member of the CIOB (ACIOB). You can also use the CSSS as evidence to underpin an S/NVQ.

How is the course delivered?

The six modules of the course are delivered through flexible blended learning, consisting of

  • one full day induction workshop
  • one practical workshop covering the Maintaining Lines and Levels module and its assignment
  • nine interactive workbooks developed by MOL
  • tutor support via email, fax or telephone

How long does the course last?

Approximately twelve months

How will I be assessed?

You will need to complete six assignments, including the practical workshop.
There are no examinations.
