The MA in SHR is designed for senior HR Management and HR Development professionals who are already Chartered Members or Fellows of the CIPD. Under exceptional circumstances, MOL may admit onto the programme Graduate Members who are in the process of upgrading to Chartered Member or Chartered Fellow of the CIPD. The course is an opportunity for Continuous Professional Development (CPD).

What are my career prospects/next steps after the course?

On successful completion of the course, you will gain an HR Masters degree, evidence for your CPD record, and you will have the knowledge and skills to meet the CIPD's ‘HR Consultancy' Advanced Standards.

How is the course delivered?

The course consists of your own research, supported by

• three two-day workshops, and
• six Action Learning Sets (ALS)

An ALS is a workshop in which students work together in small groups. MOL provides a supportive and challenging forum to enable the groups of students to reflect on their learning, performance and research activities.

Where do the workshops take place?

MA courses are currently held in London, Manchester and Birmingham, although MOL can deliver in other areas of the UK if there is sufficient demand.

How long does the course last?

Ten to 12 months

How will I be assessed?

There are no examinations. You will need to complete

• a literature review, demonstrating an ability to critically analyse and evaluate a topic centred on a strategic HR issue
• a research proposal, demonstrating your ability to assess research methodologies and plan an appropriate research design
• a dissertation, demonstrating your ability to undertake independent research and apply relevant theory to a strategic HR issue

You will also need to create a reflective learning log, providing evidence of reflective learning and plans to sustain/extend this learning.
